Sling TV is expanding its programming lineup, adding three additional channels yesterday including a sports fan favorite – the NHL Network.
The 24 hour-a-day hockey channel will be available if you subscribe to the Sports Extra add on package. The package runs an additional $5 a month if you have Sling Orange, or $10 a month if you subscribe to Sling Blue. Included in the Sports Extra package is the NFL RedZone channel and the Pac-12 family of networks. The deal with the NHL is the first for an over the top (OTT) provider.
This years coverage on NHL Network includes 75 live games from a variety of markets, though you will still be subject to local blackout rules in your geographical area. Additional NHL programming includes “NHL Now” everyday at 4pm Eastern time, and the nightly highlights show “On the Fly”.
Sling also announced the addition of two channels to their Lifestyle Plus Extra package. Both Crown Media properties – the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries are available to subscribers to the add-on package, which is $5 per month extra for both Orange and Blue subscribers.
Both channels offer family friendly content with a mix of TV and movie programming, and can be added through the Sling TV online portal within minutes.
