Cox Communications has reached and agreement with the Pac-12 Network to add the national feed in several key markets. The agreement comes well ahead of the upcoming college football season, and could possibly pressure DIRECTV a bit in their ongoing dispute with the Pac-12 Network.
The national Pac-12 channel will feature 35 live college football games, along with more than 100 basketball games along with secondary sports and tournament action. Previously customers in the coverage areas in Arizona and California only had access to Pac-12 regional channels, which would only cover area college action.
Cox cable subscribers will not only get access to the national channel, but also will be able to watch any of the seven regional Pac-12 Network channels, as well as the TV Everywhere app which allows access anywhere you have a decent internet connection.
The move may impact DIRECTV-Pac 12 negotiations, as they enter their fifth year of an ongoing standoff over money. The two sides have yet to reach a carriage agreement since the network was created in 2012.
