Korean Channel Packages Through DISH Network

If you speak Korean, then you probably already know that your entertainment options are limited in the United States.  Cable companies have little to offer when it comes to foreign language programming, unless you are interested in Spanish channels. So that leaves the satellite television option if you are looking to watch Korean TV.  Previously, we reviewed the DIRECTV Korean language option, and in this article we will cover the DISH Network Korean package options.

With DISH Network, Korean language programming is treated as an add-on to one of the base packages.  So you must first order one of the regular English language bundles like the America’s Top 120 or the Top 250, and then you can add on the Dish TV Korean packages.  These packages start at $24.99 a month for the first year, and move all the way up to around $100 a month.

Once you have settled on an English package, you can add on the Korean Tiger Pack, which contains seven different channels that cater to the Korean language market.  Interestingly, the Dish Korean package is quite different than the DIRECTV Korean satellite TV package, so it pays to review these channels closely before jumping in with either company.  The Tiger Pack is just $19.99 a month in addition to the base DISH Network package, and here is what is included.

Arirang TV is on DISH Network channel 705 and is broadcast live from Korea.  This network is actually an English language network, and began broadcasting over DISH Network systems in 2001.   Featuring news and entertainment from the Korean perspective, this channel reaches 188 countries worldwide and more than 82 million households.

JSTV is on Dish channel 668, and is a 24 hour a day Korean Christian channel.   Christian related news, entertainment, music, and worship services are found on this channel.

Ongamenet is found on DISH Network channels 657.  This network features gaming news and competition from both in Korea and internationally.  This top rated channel keeps gamers up to the minute with the latest goings on the video gaming community.

Wow TV is broadcast on DISH Network channel 661 and is the CNBC of Korea.  Here viewers can get up to the minute information on both the Korean and international stock markets, as well as the latest economic news.

BTN is a 24 hour a day Buddhist network found on DISH Network channel 658.  Programming includes Zen meditation and yoga practices, documentaries, and teachings from Buddhist masters from the far East.

KBS World is on Dish channel 9850 and is broadcast in Korean with English subtitles.  News, sitcoms, documentaries, and current affair programs are all part if the programming found here.

Finally, the Golf Channel is the last network included on DISH Network channel 401.  Available in other DISH Network packages as well, this channel is dedicated to all things golf including tournament coverage from around the world.

DISH Network does not offer any other Korean TV packages at this time, nor are any of the channels offered on an a la carte basis.

Now if you are wondering how the Dish TV Korean option stacks up with the DIRECTV Korean package, then here are a few details.  DISH Network offers these seven channels for $19.99 a month, while DIRECTV offers 10 channels for $26.99 a month.  If you want the Golf Channel with DIRECTV, then that option is an additional $5 a month bringing the total to $31.99 a month.  So you can save a bit of money with the DISH Network Korean channel option, though more content is currently available with the competition.
